Anxiety, Stress & Burnout Counselling

Support when life feels overwhelming

Everyone experiences stress at times, but sometimes the pressure builds to a point where it becomes difficult to manage on your own.

You might find yourself constantly overthinking, feeling tense or on edge, struggling to switch off, or feeling exhausted no matter how much you rest.

Maybe you’re still getting through everything you need to do — work, study, parenting, relationships, responsibilities — but inside it feels like you’re running on empty.

At Ren Solomon Counselling, I provide anxiety, stress, and burnout counselling in Malvern and online across Australia, supporting adults and young people (15+) to better understand what they’re experiencing and find practical ways forward.

When Stress Becomes Too Much

Stress and anxiety can show up differently for different people.

You might notice:

• Constant worry or racing thoughts

• Feeling overwhelmed by everyday tasks

• Difficulty relaxing or switching off

• Feeling irritable, emotional, or easily frustrated

• Avoiding things that feel too difficult

• Trouble concentrating or making decisions

• Physical signs of stress such as tension, restlessness, or exhaustion

• Feeling like you should be coping better than you are

Many people wait until they reach breaking point before seeking support, but counselling can be helpful long before things become a crisis.

Understanding Anxiety

Anxiety is not a sign of weakness.

Often, anxiety is your mind and body trying to protect you — but sometimes that protective system becomes exhausting.

You may find yourself:

• Overthinking conversations or decisions

• Preparing for every possible outcome

• Struggling with uncertainty

• Feeling unable to slow your thoughts down

• Being highly self-critical

• Holding yourself to unrealistic expectations

Together, we can explore what might be driving your anxiety and develop strategies to help you feel more confident, grounded, and in control.

Burnout Counselling

Burnout can happen when you've been pushing through for too long.

It is common among people who are caring, responsible, high-achieving, or used to putting everyone else first.

Burnout may feel like:

• Emotional exhaustion

• Loss of motivation

• Feeling disconnected or unlike yourself

• Reduced patience

• Difficulty keeping up with normal demands

• Questioning your direction or purpose

Counselling can provide space to understand how you reached this point and explore ways to rebuild balance, boundaries, and self-compassion.

A Practical and Compassionate Approach

My counselling style is warm, collaborative, and practical.

I don't believe counselling is about telling you what to do or giving generic advice. Instead, we work together to understand your experiences, recognise patterns, and find strategies that fit your life.

Depending on your needs, counselling may include:

• Understanding your thoughts, emotions, and stress responses

• Developing practical coping strategies

• Building healthier boundaries

• Improving self-compassion

• Exploring patterns that keep you feeling stuck

• Finding ways to manage overwhelm more effectively

Anxiety, ADHD & Overwhelm

For some people, anxiety and stress are connected with ADHD or executive functioning challenges.

Constantly trying to stay organised, meet expectations, manage time, remember everything, and keep up with daily responsibilities can become exhausting.

As an ADHD-informed counsellor, I understand how difficulties with focus, motivation, emotional regulation, and overwhelm can impact mental health — whether or not you have a formal ADHD diagnosis.

Counselling with a Healthcare Perspective

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent almost 20 years working as a pharmacist.

This experience gave me insight into how closely mental health, physical wellbeing, stress, and everyday life are connected.

I bring this broader healthcare understanding into counselling while providing support within a psychological and emotional wellbeing framework.

Anxiety Counselling in Malvern & Online

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, anxious, or simply not like yourself, you don’t have to wait until things get worse before seeking support.

Ren Solomon Counselling provides anxiety, stress, and burnout counselling from The Malvern Rooms in Malvern, Melbourne, as well as online counselling across Australia.

Taking the first step can feel difficult, but you’re welcome to reach out and see whether counselling feels like the right support for you.
