Being a young person today can feel overwhelming.
Between school pressures, friendships, family expectations, social media, uncertainty about the future, and trying to work out who you are, it can sometimes feel like there is a lot to manage.
At Ren Solomon Counselling, I provide counselling for young people aged 15+ in Malvern and online across Australia, offering a supportive space to talk openly, feel understood, and develop strategies for navigating challenges.
Young people don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling.
Support may be helpful for:
• Anxiety, stress, or constant worrying
• Feeling overwhelmed or struggling to cope
• School or study pressure
• Friendship and relationship challenges
• Low confidence or self-criticism
• Big emotions or difficulty managing feelings
• Family changes or conflict
• ADHD-related challenges including organisation, motivation, focus, and emotional regulation
Sometimes having someone outside of family and friends to talk to can make a significant difference.
My approach with young people is warm, respectful, and collaborative.
Counselling is not about judgement, lectures, or being told what to do.
Instead, we work together to understand what’s happening, explore challenges, recognise strengths, and build practical tools that can help in everyday life.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent almost 20 years working as a pharmacist and have extensive experience supporting people through complex mental health challenges, including crisis and suicide prevention work.
This background helps me provide calm, compassionate support while recognising that every young person’s experiences and needs are different.
I understand that parents often want to support their teenager while also giving them space to build trust in counselling. I aim to create a respectful environment where young people feel heard, while working collaboratively with families where appropriate.
For some young people, starting counselling can feel intimidating.
Sessions with Woof, my trained therapy dog, may be available by request.
Woof provides a gentle, calming presence and can help the counselling space feel more comfortable and relaxed.
Therapy dog sessions are always optional and discussed beforehand.
If your teenager is experiencing anxiety, stress, overwhelm, ADHD-related challenges, or simply needs extra support, counselling can provide a safe place to start.
Ren Solomon Counselling offers counselling for young people (15+) from The Malvern Rooms in Malvern, Melbourne, and online across Australia.
