Therapy Dog Sessions with Woof 🐾

Counselling with a calm and comforting presence

Starting counselling can feel daunting.

For some people, having a gentle animal presence in the room can help the counselling space feel more comfortable, relaxed, and welcoming.

At Ren Solomon Counselling, clients attending in-person sessions in Malvern may have the option to include Woof, my trained therapy dog.

Meet Woof

Woof has many years of experience supporting people in healthcare and counselling environments.

Before joining me in private practice, Woof spent time alongside me during my years working as a pharmacist, where she became well known for her calm, gentle nature and ability to connect with people of all ages.

She now brings that same reassuring presence into the counselling space.

Who Might Benefit from Therapy Dog Sessions?

Everyone experiences counselling differently.

Some clients find having Woof present can help them feel more comfortable, particularly those experiencing:

• Anxiety or nervousness about starting counselling

• Stress or emotional overwhelm

• Difficulty opening up or talking about challenging experiences

• ADHD-related restlessness or overwhelm

• A preference for a less traditional counselling environment

Young people may also find Woof helps the counselling space feel more approachable.

What Happens During a Session with Woof?

Woof’s role is simply to be present.

Some clients like having her nearby, sitting beside them, or quietly sharing the room.

Others prefer standard counselling sessions without Woof — and that’s completely okay too.

Therapy dog sessions are always optional and discussed beforehand to ensure they are suitable and comfortable for you.
